5 Takeaways from the 2024 NC SHIP Community Council Annual Meeting

In July 2024, the NC SHIP Community Council held its annual meeting and celebrated success. Workgroups are improving the health of North Carolinians.

The North Carolina State Health Improvement Plan (NC SHIP) Community Council brings communities and partners across the state together to work toward all people in North Carolina having equitable opportunities for health, education, and economic stability throughout their lifespans. Workgroup efforts advance the 21 health indicators (PDF) identified in Healthy North Carolina 2030.

The NC SHIP Community Council’s Annual Meeting on July 10, 2024, celebrated success and progress across workgroups during the “Year of Action.”

Five takeaways from the annual meeting:

1. Recognizing Success

Together, our 18 workgroups are making North Carolina a healthier place to live, learn, work, and raise a family.

2. Action-Oriented

Over the past year, work groups held meetings and worked together to:

  • Build partnerships.
  • Address challenges.
  • Focus on action steps.
  • Match resources to community needs.

3. Collaboration and Partner Engagement

Groups shared how they are working together to:

  • Collaborate with diverse partners.
  • Engage people with lived experiences.
  • Coordinate and strengthen existing efforts.

4. Reflection

Over the past year, workgroups have demonstrated strong dedication to their roles. The meeting served as a space for workgroup members to reflect and connect with new partners.

5. Future Direction

Workgroups will build on the meeting's momentum from the “Year of Action" as they move forward. The theme for next year (2024-2025) is “Onward for Action.”
