Did you know? Nov. 25 is Public Health Thank You Day.
Public health professionals at NCDHHS help us live healthier lives. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, yet we all experience the impact of public health every day.
Public health professionals:
- Make sure the restaurants you eat in meet health standards, so you don’t get sick.
- Ensure the schools where your children learn are free of lead and asbestos.
- Screen newborns for conditions that can cause serious harm or death if untreated.
- Issue and keep records for our major life events like birth, marriage and death.
- Make sure your septic tank is installed properly so sewage stays where it belongs.
- Help control bugs so you don’t get mosquito-borne illnesses.
- Support your journey to quit smoking.
Thanks to NC’s public health workforce, we can do these things and everything in between. These dedicated efforts keep our communities safer and healthier.
Today and every day, we express gratitude and show support to everyone who plays a part in public health.
Public health is everywhere, every day, everyone.
Join us today in honoring and celebrating our public health professionals!
