Syphilis Screening Requirement
North Carolina healthcare providers are required to screen ALL pregnant persons for syphilis at:
- The first prenatal visit,
- Between 28-30 weeks gestation, and
- Delivery.
This requirement is irrespective of the local rate of syphilis or perceived risk for infection.
