Dear Partners,

North Carolina is experiencing an increase in measles cases in the western part of the state. In light of this, we have attached an important memo from Dr. Zack Moore, State Epidemiologist. The memo outlines updated NC DHHS public health guidance on measles prevention, including recommendations for early MMR vaccination for infants in areas where transmission is occurring.

Additionally, the North Carolina Immunization Program (NCIP) is expanding the 317 VFA coverage criteria for MMR vaccine eligibility to include underinsured adults. Under this change, adults who have partial insurance coverage or are required to make out of pocket payments toward the MMR vaccine will be eligible for a 317 VFA MMR vaccine.

Please share this information with all clinical staff and partners.
