The Health Hazards Control Unit:
- Issues permits for asbestos and lead removal projects / issues demolition notifications.
- Accredits people who perform asbestos management activities in N.C.
- Certifies people and firms doing lead-based paint management or renovation activities.
- Inspects asbestos and lead removal/renovation projects; ensures proper work practices.
- Approves asbestos accreditation/lead certification training courses; accredits training providers.
- Shares how asbestos and lead-based paint exposure can harm your health.
- Gives talks/presentations about asbestos and lead-based paint hazards, and N.C. rules/requirements for renovation and removal.
