Dear Providers,

Please be advised that North Carolina Immunization Program (NCIP)-supplied flu vaccine doses will expire on 6/30/2026. Vaccine ordering will end on 6/12/2026; however, vaccine doses may continue to be administered through the expiration date.

Any flu vaccine doses remaining on 7/1/2026 must be removed from the vaccine storage unit and NCIR inventory, appropriately wasted, and returned in accordance with program guidelines.

Waste and Return Instructions

  • Providers are responsible for completing the required vaccine waste documentation (PDF) and submitting all applicable return information for expired or wasted flu vaccine inventory. Once the submission has been verified, a prepaid shipping label will be emailed to the vaccine shipping contact for the return shipment. Shipping labels cannot be generated or distributed until all waste and return requirements have been completed and approved.

To avoid delays, please ensure the following steps are completed:

  • Reconcile all remaining flu vaccine inventory after June 30
  • Document all wasted or expired doses in the appropriate system
  • Submit required return requests and supporting documentation
  • Package vaccine returns according to program instructions

If you have questions regarding the vaccine return process or need assistance, contact the NCIP Help Desk by phone at 1.877.USE.NCIR (873-6247), by email, or submit a ticket through the NCIP Help Desk Portal.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and dedication to improving immunization outcomes in North Carolina.
