NC Immunization Registry Training and Education

All providers participating in the State's COVID-19 vaccine program can access NC Immunization Registry (NCIR) User Guides, Previously Recorded Training Sessions, and other helpful materials on the COVID-19 website.

The following trainings are related to NCIR users and their specific roles in the registry. User roles include reports-only, typical user, inventory control and administrators.

User roles

  • Reports-only: This role allows users to search for clients and print their immunization records. Reports-only users cannot edit or update information in the registry.
  • Typical User: This is the most common role in NCIR. A typical user can find, add, and edit client records, manage immunization data, and print immunization reports. They have all the permissions of a Reports-only user, plus the ability to update client records.
  • Inventory Control: The inventory control user manages the organization's vaccine inventory in NCIR. This includes viewing inventory, adding and updating vaccines, submitting inventory counts, and generating inventory reports, such as Vaccine Accountability Statements. An inventory control user has all the permissions of Reports-only and Typical User roles.
  • Administrator: Administrators are the organization's main point of contact for NCIR. They can add and remove users, update organizational information (such as site and clinician details), and run various reports (including reminder/recall and immunization coverage reports). Administrators have all the permissions of Reports-only, Typical User, and Inventory Control roles.
Note: Each organization must have at least two administrators — one primary and one backup.

These documents will provide ongoing support with daily NCIR tasks.

Inventory management tools ensure that vaccine is handled appropriately through the cold chain. Immunization schedules, clinical resources, and provider resources help your practice stay up-to-date on best practices and available resources to support those practices. Coverage criteria are frequently updated and affect which clients can receive state-supplied vaccines.
